KLAS Users' Conference 2006 Hands-On Training

To register for the Hands-On Training, please indicate which session(s) you would like to attend on your Conference Registration. There will be one training session offered every morning and afternoon throughout the conference. If you are not a part of a formal hands-on training session, please join your collegues for a roundtable discussion on a different topic scheduled for the same time.
Each session is limited to 12 persons with up to 6 additional auditing. Once a session has been filled, a waiting list will be created.

Tuesday, March 28

8:15-9:45 AM - Basic Navigation of KLAS v7

An introduction to version KLAS v7 for libraries planning to migrate, this class is designed to familiarize users with the basic setup of catalogue, equipment and patron records. Users will learn how to find a record and view its various parts.

4:00-5:30 PM - KLAS v7 Query Building

This hands-on session will walk you through using Query to create database subsets. Topics will include how to decide which Query to use, how to use operators and terms successfully, and how to use query results to view records and create lists or labels.

Wednesday, March 29

8:15-9:45 AM - Welcome to the KLAS v7 Patron Record

This class is designed to allow beginning users to explore patron records more fully. Users will be able to find patron records, use the filters to find specific requests and HasHad record, add preferences and perform WebOPAC Maintenance.

4:00-5:30 PM - Equipment in KLAS v7

Attendees of this class will learn about the various features in the Equipment Module in version 7. The features include Batch Receive, Send to/Receive from Repair, and Equipment Transfer.

Thursday, March 30

8:15-9:45 AM - The Nitty Gritty of the KLAS v7 Patron Module

A more in-depth look at the ins and outs of serving patrons. Attendees will learn how to manipulate the patron record to facilitate service. The class will also discuss trouble-shooting a patron's service record.

2:45-4:15 PM - Using Reports in KLAS v7

This hands-on session will walk you through using Reports as management tools. Topics will include how to decide which report to use, how to specify parameters to get the information you need, and how to save and print your results.
